1937 Schwinn La Salle De Luxe Hollywood MotorbikeThis is an incredibly rare and untouched schwinn la salle girls hollywood motorbike, circa 1937. Not 100% sure on the year, but that si what the people in the know tell me. Chicago cycle supply company sold these and what makes this one so rare is the paint scheme. This was not offered by schwinn, only yb chi-co. In 20 years of collecting, i have seen one other schwinn with this paint scheme. All original. No touch ups. The paint is in killer condition considering it's age. Decals are still strong on the tank nad the top bar. Even the pin stripes are still bold. Chrome on the drop center rims is stunning. Rims themselves have on dents or dings. Marked m. O. Mfg. Co. And are laced with a new departure model w front hub and an early new departure model d (small brake arm) rear hub. Torrington double butted spokes are minty. To top off the wheel set, they are rdessed with goodyear all weather g-3 airwheel 26 x 2.125 tires. Chrome on the sprocket and skip tooth crank is awesome.
Handlebar and stem chrome is fair. Seat top is original adn in need of a re-cover. I will include a ince original top.
Just have to find it. La salle badge is in very good condition. Rear 9 hole rakc is straight and has it's original mounting bracket! Original ea bakleite button horn in the tank works when it wants to. I haven't spent much time on it. Original front loader delta 3 rib light is in fine condition and works great. Very rare blue 'fingertip grips' are in superb shape.
Sweet original b. F goordich safety league badge on the back fender.
Torrington '3n' pdeals are nice and spin freely. End caps are nice and easily read. Original bell no the bars works. Excelsior pad lock on the seat (with key) adds a touch of nostalgia. Even has a nos miller kickstand!
I can go on and on about this bike. When was the last time you saw anything like it?
